The Story of Jean

The Story of Jean

I grew up in a Christian family. When I was a child, I attended Sunday school and there they taught about Jesus Christ.  All I really learned was His name.  I didn’t know who He was.  I was influenced by my friends or “barkada”.   Some of my friends were unbelievers.  Sometimes I didn’t obey what my Mama and Papa told me and sometimes I argued with them.  Mostly, I wanted to spent time with my friends whether it was in school or during my free time.  Even on Sundays,  I didn’t go to church because I wanted to be with my friends.   I lied to my parents.  I became a spoiled daughter.
During my sixth grade I started going to youth meetings.  I become interested in learning about Jesus.  God touched my heart through the sermons of our Pastor and also in our Youth Bible studies.  Through them, I learned more about Jesus and I was encouraged about salvation.  In December of 1999, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.  I realized that I was a sinner.  So I offered my life to Him and confessed my sin.  I was born again and became a part of God’s family.
Years later, someone offered me work in Butuan City.  I stopped reading my Bible and having devotions.  My relationship with God was affected because my work was my first priority.  Again I let my friends or “barkada” consume my time.  My weakness was my need for friends just like before.  I liked my job and because of it, pride was in my heart.  Months later, I went back to attend college.  I was in a motorcycle accident.   One person was killed and another was hurt.  I really thank God for what happened in my life after the accident.  God disciplined me.  He was not pleased with what I had done and how I had lived.  He gave me another chance.  Step by step I started all over again.  God taught me and instructed me from His word.  I learned what I should do and I obeyed.  He gave me the privilege of becoming a Sunday school teacher for the children in our church and I became an organizer of our youth group.  Some have encouraged me to go to Bible school.  I prayed and God has given me the desire to become a missionary and to attend Bible School.
Now God has brought me here to the Life Resources Foundation to teach me how to serve Him and He has guided me here.  He walks with me and I am willing to follow Him and obey His will for my life.  As of now, I am learning about God’s word and how to work cross-culturally in ministry.  I want to share the gospel with unreached people.  I am still searching to finding His will.  One of my desires is to serve Him and to glorify His name.
